The Community Redevelopment Agency focus on this inner city neighborhood included a three-prong strategy of affordable housing opportunities, improved sidewalks, and a new park to encourage renewed interest in the neighborhood.
The CRA has constructed a 35-space parking lot located at the corner of Belmont Street and Coyle Street at a cost of $81,000. The CRA offers matching grants of up to $10,000 for the renovation of commercial properties in the four-block commercial core of this downtown neighborhood.
On July 16, 2001 the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) approved a Service Authorization with Fabre Engineering for the design of a streetscape project in the four-block commercial core of the Belmont-Devilliers neighborhood. As a part of the Service Authorization the design team will hold several meetings with property owners to receive input on the overall design of the streetscape, on-street parking, selection of materials and landscaping. Construction is projected to begin June 2002 and be completed December 2003. Estimated cost is $870,000 with 20% of the total being paid by property owners.
