Innovation & Technology Department

Responsibilities

The Department of Innovation & Technology is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct all information technology, telecommunications services, and data and voice communication services, including wireless telephone and data services utilized by city staff.
  • Operate computer centers, a citywide data and communications network maintaining optimum levels of reliability, accessibility, and serviceability.
  • Review requests for acquisition of computer, telephone, network, software, and telecommunications equipment by city departments to ensure consistency with city standards, long-range objectives, and cost effectiveness guidelines.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement new computer, telephone, telecommunications systems, and automated software applications where City of Pensacola’s operations are located.
  • Provide for continuity of computer center, telephone system, and data network operations following any disaster affecting city facilities.
