Residential Garbage
Garbage collection is mandatory within the City of Pensacola. About 19,000 customers use the city provided wheeled containers that are placed curbside for collection. An operator, using an automated collection truck, makes once-weekly collections of garbage containers placed at curbside. Customers are charged a monthly fee for this service.
Helpful Hints to Keep Pensacola Clean
Garbage placed in the black city-owned containers is collected once a week. By following the helpful hints listed below you can help us keep Pensacola clean.
- Please drain garbage and household waste before placing it in the city-owned container. Also bagging raw garbage will keep cans cleaner and prevent insect problems.
- On collection day, place your wheeled container within two feet of the curb with the opening facing the street. Do not place the container in the street. Please make sure the container is clear of mail boxes, utility poles, parked vehicles, low-hanging wires, or tree limbs.
- To maintain the appearance of your neighborhood, place the container out for collection no later than 6 a.m. on your collection day and remove it from curbside no later than 6 a.m. the day after collection.
- Only containers provided by the city are acceptable for service.
