COVID-19 Community Update

Here’s where you will find all pertinent information on the City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation department closures. As regulations and guidelines evolve to help stop the spread of COVID-19, so will this information. Please check back regularly as information will update to stay aligned with the regulations and guidelines set forth by our state and local officials.

FACILITIES

OFFICES

The Parks and Recreation City Hall and Field Service Center offices are closed to the public until further notice. Parks and Recreation staff can be reached at (850) 436-5670, or access our staff directory.

PARKS

City parks, and all park equipment have reopened to the public. Families and individuals can enjoy the open spaces at any of our 93 parks, bring their own equipment such as a ball or Frisbee, and please follow CDC guidelines to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including social distancing. For your protection and the safety of others, please wipe down fitness equipment before and after each use.

The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department has taken the following actions to protect the public:

  • All drinking fountains at city parks have been turned off.
  • All public restrooms at city parks are closed until further notice. 
  • The city’s splash pad at Plaza de Luna is closed until further notice.

In effort to help stop the spread of COVID-19, The City of Pensacola is providing hand-washing stations at eleven locations intended for those who do not have regular access to soap and water.

Six of the hand-washing stations are located at the following City parks:

Bartram Park: 211 Bayfront Parkway
Bill Gregory Park: 150 N. “W” St.
Bryan Park: 1200 Langley Ave.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza: 50 N. Palafox St. (two stations)
Veterans Memorial Park: 200 S. 10th Ave.
Wyer Park: 320 W. Belmont St.

Bocce sets can be reserved for exclusive use in Bayview Park, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon. Rental periods last for one hour. A maximum of two bocce sets are available to rent per hour to provide staff adequate time to disinfect after each use. Identification will be held by staff for the duration of the rental period and provided back upon return of the bocce set. 

A $1.00 donation for your rental to help fund senior programs at Bayview Senior Center is encouraged, but not required.

RESOURCE CENTERS

City of Pensacola resource centers will reopen to the public on Monday, June 15th for summer camps and limited programs. Only youth participating in summer camps will be allowed in Cobb, Fricker, Gull Point and Woodland Heights Resource Centers, Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 6:00 pm.  General public will be granted access to fitness centers and limited adult and family programing, 6:00 pm - close. Please contact centers for schedules and available amenities.

Exceptions: 

Select resource centers will be open as meal pickup sites for youth and seniors.  

Bayview Senior Center will remain closed to the public until further notice. Bayview offers virtual programming to keep citizens active and engaged. Like and follow Bayview Senior Center on Facebook to participate. 

The fitness room at Sanders Beach Corrine Jones Resource Center will be open to the public during regular business hours. Capacity restrictions will be enforced to practice safe social distancing.

MEAL SITES

SENIOR MEAL SITE PICKUPS

Council on Aging of West Florida will provide pre-plated meals for seniors Monday - Friday from 11 a.m to noon, at the following sites (for pickup only):

  • Cobb Resource Center, 601 E. Mallory St.
  • Bayview Senior Center, 2000 E. Lloyd St.
  • Fricker Resource Center, 900 N. F. St.

Seniors must call Council on Aging at (850) 432-1475 or (850) 266-2512 before noon the day before pickup to reserve their meal.

YOUTH MEAL SITE PICKUPS

The City Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Feeding the Gulf Coast to offer grab-and-go meals for youth ages 18 and under. Meals will include breakfast, lunch and a snack. 

Meals will be available for pickup only at the locations listed below Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.:

  • Cobb Resource Center, 601 E. Mallory St.
  • Fricker Resource Center, 900 N. F. St.
  • Gull Point Resource Center, 7000 Spanish Trail
  • Woodland Heights Resource Center, 111 Berkley Drive

PERMITS

BOAT LAUNCHES 

Boat launching is free to the public until further notice. 

TREE PERMITS

Tree permits are available by calling (850) 380-9583 during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

RECREATION

EVENTS

Escambia County and the City of Pensacola has cancelled all publicly-permitted events with an expected attendance of 50 or more people in response to a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that organizers cancel or postpone community-wide mass gatherings throughout the United States. Cancellation of City-Permitted events has been extended through June 1st.

SPORTS AND CAMPS

All team sports programs are suspended until further notice. 

Summer Camp registration is now open. Play Pensacola Summer Camps will begin Monday, June 15th. Visit our Summer Camps and Outdoor Pursuits pages to read our COVID-19 response and for more information.
