In December of 2015 City Council authorized the formation of the Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Task Force, in 2016 Task Force Members were appointed and in 2017 the Task Force began meeting.
The initial goals of the Task Force included, advance adaptation and mitigation strategies to enhance resilience and preparedness for withstanding the effects of climate change; promoting education, incentives and public outreach and the generation of suggestions in obtaining grants and other financial resources to offset program costs. After a series of meetings, these goals were expanded and explored in more detail.
The Task Force was comprised of subject matter experts from a broad variety of experience and expertise.
In November of 2018 the Task Force issued its final report to include recommendations for success.
