Mayor Grover Robinson and the City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department invite the public to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate the reopening of Gull Point Resource Center, located at 7000 Spanish Trail. Gull Point was recently renovated with interior improvements including refinished flooring in the dance classrooms and the gym, new LED lighting and ceiling in the gym, restroom upgrades, lobby and reception area improvements, and an expanded kitchen. Additionally the outdoor pavilions were improved with new restrooms and lighting. Gull Point Resource Center offers a comprehensive dance program for youth and adults, after school programming and summer camps, senior adult programming, as well as a variety of fitness and enrichment classes for adults. The center's hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department and Escambia County Neighborhood & Human Services Department are partnering to present a Black History Month event for seniors age 50 and up on Friday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W. De Soto St. The event is called "This Is Our Story" and will include musical performances, spoken word, guest speakers, health screenings and light refreshments. Guest Speakers include Rev. Donald Harris, Bennie Washington, and Dr. Marion Williams. A collection of artwork by local African-American artist Erik O'Neal titled "Recreating the Moment" will also be on display.
