[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Gordon Update

Officials meet at the EOC

As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Pensacola area remains under a tropical storm warning and storm surge watch as Tropical Storm Gordon nears the northern Gulf Coast.

The National Weather Service expects for tropical storm conditions to arrive in the warning areas this afternoon. Our area can expect to experience gusty winds and between 2-4 inches of rain.

NWS forecasts the center of the storm will approach western coastal Mississippi as a weak hurricane late this afternoon or evening.

At this time, no evacuations have been ordered for Escambia County. City officials continue to monitor the weather and will aim to take necessary precautions. We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to be mindful of impending weather forecasts and access to health and safety services.

As we continue to monitor TS Gordon, passengers should check with their airline regarding flight status information. You can also view flight updates by checking out Pensacola International Airport's live flights schedule.

Due to the current forecast residents may experience storm water issues. However, if you see a storm drain that appears to be obstructed, please remove the obstruction.
