The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with two businesses to renovate the basketball courts at Hollice T. Williams Park.
The old lines were removed and the courts were cleaned and re-striped prior to installing new goals which are decked out with the logos of project partners Pensacola Sam’s Club, Buffalo Rock Company-Pepsi distributor, and the City of Pensacola.
“Sam’s Club has been donating to parks projects on a regular basis and this was actually a project they recommended to us,” said Bill Kimball, Parks Superintendent. “The goals and nets were in pretty bad shape and hadn’t been touched in over 15 years so the courts needed a good overhaul. In talking with Sam’s Club they were interested in making this a multi-partner project and gave us the green light to approach other businesses for additional funding. Buffalo Rock’s local Pepsi representatives answered the call and donated the remaining funds needed to complete the project.”
“The goals were up just in time for this past weekend’s beautiful weather and hopefully many people will be taking advantage of the newly renovated courts this spring,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brian Cooper.
