[ARCHIVED] Hayward announces new 311 enhancements, new CityView mapping system


Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward announced today major enhancements to the City’s 311 non-emergency citizen support line, including the new Pensacola 311 mobile app. Hayward also unveiled CityView, the City’s new GIS mapping system.

Following a model established in other progressive cities, Hayward established Pensacola’s 311 system in July 2011 as a service for citizens to report non-emergency issues and access City services by dialing 311 or visiting the City website. The new enhancements include a Pensacola 311 mobile app as well as a new, easy-to-use web interface at, both of which will allow citizens to track and receive notifications about the requests they submit.

“311 is a central piece of my effort to foster a ‘citizens first’ culture here at City Hall,” said Mayor Hayward. “The new 311 app makes it easier than ever for citizens to connect to the City and get issues resolved quickly and efficiently. Over the past two years, 311 has become a part of everything we do as a City. It pushes us to be better every day and helps us continue to improve the services we’re providing to citizens.”

With the new Pensacola 311 mobile app, available for iPhone/iPad, Android, and Blackberry devices, citizens can easily submit 311 tickets on the go. Your device’s GPS location will pinpoint your location, and you’ll have the option to attach a photo to your 311 request. The mobile app also includes City news updates, information on City officials, and more. The new 311 platform is powered by PublicStuff, an industry leader providing services to more than 200 cities across the country.

“With these updates, the new 311 has become a truly interactive system for our citizens,” said City Councilman Brian Spencer. “I want to thank the Mayor for really pushing this initiative.”

“I’m a huge advocate for 311, and I think it’s a fantastic service for our citizens,” said City Councilwoman Sherri Myers, who recently used the 311 service to get trashcans emptied at her neighborhood park.

The new CityView mapping system is a Geographic Information System (GIS) application which will allow citizens to quickly look up important information, including City Council districts, garbage and recycling pick-up schedules, distance to City parks, and more. CityView is also a great tool for businesses and investors, allowing users to easily find a multitude of information related to a parcel, including zoning, future land use, permit data, special district status, and more.

“When I ran for office, I pledged to make City information more easily available, and that promise has driven many of our technology initiatives over the past two and a half years,” said Mayor Hayward. “The new CityView tool makes it easier than ever for citizens, businesses, and investors to find information about properties, City services, and more.”
