The City of Pensacola is encouraging everyone to come enjoy the local Mardi Gras celebrations. In participation with Pensacola Mardi Gras Inc., the City of Pensacola has designated a portion of Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza as a Family Friendly Zone.
“Pensacola has a strong tradition of family friendly celebrations,” said Mayor Ashton Hayward. “This is a great option for families to enjoy the festivities in a more family centered location.”
We are asking all parade goers to refrain from using alcohol and tobacco products within the two blocks of the MLK Plaza between Gregory and Garden Streets on Palafox Street during the 2016 Mardi Gras activities on February 5th and 6th. There will be signage in the area to remind everyone of these guidelines.
The Grand Parade will also be broadcast live on Saturday, February 6, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on WEAR-TV and its sister station WFGX.
