Four people were injured this
afternoon after a car ran a stop sign and struck an ECAT bus in downtownPensacola.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m.
at the intersection of South E and West Government streets.
Officer Ronald Boutin said RachelWehring, 22, of Pensacola was northbound on E Street in a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta
when she failed to stop at a stop sign. The car then struck an ECAT bus, whichwas westbound on Government Street. The bus left the road, struck a fire hydrant
and went through a fence before stopping.
There were six passengers on thebus at the time of the crash. Two passengers on the bus – Lisa Cooke, 55, and
Samon Toler, 22, both of Pensacola - and the bus driver – Michael Brooks, 54,of Pensacola - were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening
injuries. Wehring also was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-lifethreatening injuries, Boutin said.
Wehring, who was wearing a
seatbelt, was issued a citation for running a stop sign, Boutin said.
