A female pedestrian died Friday
night after being hit by a car on West Cervantes Street.
The name of the woman is not yetbeing released pending family notification, said Officer Brad Buddin.
The incident was reported to
police just before 8 p.m. Friday on Cervantes Street just east of H Street.
Buddin said a 2012 Honda Civicdriven by Linda Butler, 58, of Pensacola was eastbound on Cervantes Street in
the outside lane when the pedestrian walked in front of her car and was hit.The pedestrian had been walking eastbound on the sidewalk when for an unknown reason
she walked onto Cervantes Street and into the path of the car.
The woman died a short time laterat a local hospital. No charges have been filed.
