Congratulations to Officer Lonnie Isom, who retires today after serving the community for 29 years as a Pensacola Police Officer.
Officer Isom was hired by the department as a cadet on July 5, 1988 and was promoted to police officer on September 22, 1989. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, Investigations and Training/Personnel.
Among his duties as one of the department’s training officers have been teaching firearms handling, defensive tactics and driving, and serving as a firearms instructor at the gun range. He also has handled polygraphs for criminal investigations and background checks on potential hires for the department and other agencies.
Officer Isom has taught at the gun range as part of citizen gun safety education classes offered by the Pensacola Police Department and also teaches firearms, defensive driving and tactics at the George Stone Police Academy.
