The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department and Humana are gearing up for the 2017 Pensacola Senior Games September 8 – 24. Seniors 50 and older will have the opportunity to engage in their favorite recreational/sporting activities over a two-week period. The games will consist of a series of 21 events including bocce, horse shoes, bowling, darts, track and field, tennis, swimming, and more. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just someone that is interested in staying active, there is sure to be an event for you.
Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to each age group in each event. The Pensacola Senior Games are sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation and is a qualifier for the 2017 Florida Senior Games to be held this December in Clearwater.
A closing ceremony which will include food, giveaways, and sponsor booths will be held at the Bayview Senior Center from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on September 24 to celebrate the accomplishments of all participants.
Registration forms are available online and at neighborhood resource centers. Seniors can register for the event in person at the Bayview Senior Center at 2000 East Lloyd Street or mail in their registration. The cost is $10 for your first event and includes registration, t-shirt, admission to the closing ceremony and all the medals you can win. Each additional event will cost $1. Additional fees will be included for golf, bowling and cycling.
