Preliminary crime statistics are out for 2017, and the City of Pensacola saw positive changes in those statistics. Most notably is that the City of Pensacola was homicide-free in 2017. In fact, the last homicide committed in the city was 14 months ago in October of 2016. The last time the city of Pensacola went a single year without a homicide was in 1990.
Pensacola also saw an overall decline in violent crimes and property crimes. Specific numbers will be compiled by February 1st.
We are also proud to announce that Chief Tommi Lyter made the 2017 list of Difference Makers in Pensacola. For the past decade, the Studer Family has compiled the list of people, organizations, and business who have made a positive impact in our area.
