Hurricane Irma

City of Pensacola survived Hurricane Irma relatively unscathed. However, now is not the time to let our guard down.

We continue to remind residents to be mindful of any impending weather forecasts. Public Works and Facilities crews will continue to be out prior to and during weather events as part of normal precautionary operations.

Want to help? At this time, the best thing is to donate to your favorite disaster response charity as cash donations offer voluntary agencies and faith-based organizations the most flexibility to address urgently developing needs.

Gov. Rick Scott has also activated the Florida Disaster Fund to support individuals who are impacted by Hurricane Irma. The Florida Disaster Fund helps provide financial support to Florida’s communities in times of disaster. To make a contribution, please visit www.FloridaDisasterFund.org or text DISASTER to 20222 to make a one-time donation of $10.

Real time incident and road closure map

Have you ever been stuck in traffic wondering what was going on or wish that you could have avoided it? The Office of the Mayor and the Pensacola Police Department are proud to announce that we have added a real time incident and road closure map to our website. It’s a green icon on the right side of the page labeled “Road Incident Map”. Click on it, and you get up to date locations of traffic crashes, flooded roadways, stalled vehicles, road obstructions, non functioning traffic lights, and street closures.

PPD

The information is entered by dispatchers at the Pensacola Police Department, who are constantly kept up to date by police officers, fire fighters, and employees from the Pensacola Department of Streets and Traffic.

“I am happy that my office and the Pensacola Police Department were able to partner and bring another solution to residents and visitors that increase awareness of what is happening on our roads," Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward said. "This new module addresses concerns about not knowing which streets to avoid during weather related events, construction projects, accidents, and other road closures.”
