Work will continue this week in the citywide street resurfacing program. The two-year effort is milling and resurfacing approximately 1,800-blocks, or 119-miles, of streets and roadways throughout Pensacola.
Drivers may encounter increased congestion and temporary lane closures during daytime hours this week on the following streets in east Pensacola.
- East Blount Street, between North 15th and North 19th Avenues.
- East Moreno Street, between North 14th and North 17th Avenues.
- North 19th Avenue, between East Blount and East Moreno Streets.
Vehicles must be removed from the street before work can begin. Cars left on the city-owned right-of-way will be subject to relocation. Completion of the street resurfacing program is currently scheduled for later this year.
Meantime, Pensacola Energy crews will continue work to replace more than 75-miles of obsolete, cast-iron natural gas lines with new, polyethylene pipes. The natural gas work will take place primarily off the roadway, but vehicles parked on the street must be removed before work begins. The natural gas main replacement program is slated for completion early next year.
All planned construction activities are weather-dependent. Work may be postponed, delayed, or re-scheduled in the event of rainy, cold, windy, or other inclement conditions.
