Lysia H. Bowling has dedicated her career to public service and brings to the City of Pensacola over two decades of progressive and extensive management and legal experience in state and local government.
Ms. Bowling holds double majors in political science and Latin American studies from Yale University, as well as a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in both the state of Florida and the state of Texas.
Ms. Bowling previously served as the City Attorney for the City of San Angelo, Texas, and the City Attorney of the City of Harlingen, Texas. She was also an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Assistant City Attorney and Police Legal Advisor for the City of Miami, Florida, Police Legal Advisor and City Prosecutor for Temple, Texas, Chief Prosecutor for Austin, Texas, and has served with several Texas state agencies, including the Attorney General’s Office, the Comptroller of Public Accounts, the General Land Office, and the Department of Insurance.
Throughout her career, Ms. Bowling has been passionately committed to civic and community service, as well as being a leader in statewide and municipal leadership and ethics organizations. She has also been active as a speaker at state and national bar association conferences. She has held leadership roles in numerous community service organizations and is an active role model and mentor to young people and women.
